Social Studies

The Mountain Pointe Social Studies Department offers a wide variety of classes that address students' need for knowledge of the world at hand, the world of individuals, the world of institutions, the world past, present, and future. We enable students the ability to understand themselves and the society in which they live and our program integrates knowledge, skills, and attitude within and across disciplines.

Mission:
Our social studies program objective is the promotion of civic competence which is the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for students to be able to assume the office of citizens in our democratic republic.

Academic:
The Social Studies department offers a variety of classes to fit any student’s future plans. We have a rigorous selection of Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment classes as well as numerous electives. There are also two outstanding pathways that you can enter into to achieve your future goals; becoming an AP Scholar with courses starting freshmen year and Dual Enrollment courses leading to an Associate Degree.
